Easy Way To Use Adobe Acrobat To Convert Image To Text

In my previous Bukisa article How to Use Adobe Acrobat to Convert Image to Text, I introduced the way to convert the scanned pages of ebooks or paper, or text in a pic or drawing to the editable text. It is one of Adobe Acrobat’s functions, titled optical character recognition (OCR). In that article, I wrote that you need to crop the image to less than 45×45 inches by using Photoshop or PowerPoint in order to convert it. But actually it is not required. The reason to crop the PDF pages is because the PDF file I used is password protected, and so that I don’t have the right to edit it. Now I want to tell you the easiest way to use Adobe Acrobat to convert image to text and the easier way to convert a password fortified PDF file. The same as my previous article, I used this function on Adobe Acrobat 8 and 9, which both work very well.
To convert the content of an image or a page from a scanned PDF document to actual text, follow these steps:
Open your PDF file.
Choose Document > OCR Text Recognition > Recognize Text Using OCR. The Recognize Text dialog box opens. You don’t need to alter any other parameters, and just click OK to begin the conversion process. The conversion speed depends on the size of your file. Usually it will take less that a minute.
When the process is complete, the dialog box closes and the editable text is shown in front of you replacing the original images.
Now you can save the file to the converted version or save as another new file. With the new file, you can copy and paste the txt content to your Microsoft Word file and begin to alter the errors.
OK, now let’s move to the second part about the easier way to convert a password fortified PDF file. The only thing you need to do is to decoding it. There are lots of PDF decoding software and the one I used is a small green software titled PDF Password Remover, which has been cracked and translated to Chinese version with a size of 480k. After decoding the PDF file, you can follow the instruction above to convert the file.

How to Use Adobe Acrobat to Convert Image to Text

A scanned page in old version of e-books or paper, or one created from a pic or drawing, is only an image of a page, and you can’t manipulate its content by extracting images or modifying the text. However, Adobe Acrobat can convert the image of the document into actual text by using optical character recognition (OCR).
I used this function on Adobe Acrobat 8 and 9, which both work very well.
To capture the content of an image or a page from a scanned PDF document, follow these steps:
Save your target page of the PDF file as an image.
Crop the image to less than 45×45 inches by using Photoshop or PowerPoint, or any other software that can do it. Save the cropped image.
Choose File > Create PDF > From file > your cropped image that you want to convert.
Choose Document > OCR Text Recognition > Recognize Text Using OCR. The Recognize Text dialog box opens. You don’t need to alter any other parameters, and just click OK to begin the capture process. The conversion process is very fast and you just need to move several seconds.
When the process is complete, the dialog box closes and the results of the conversion are shown in the document, right in front of you.
Now you can copy and paste the txt content to your Microsoft Word file and begin to alter the errors.
It is stated that Adobe Acrobat 9 can convert massive file rather than a 45×45 inches one, but I don’t know why I can’t achieve it.
